چکیده

In spectrum-sharing systems where the secondary user (SU) opportunistically accesses the primary user (PU)’s licensed channel, the SU should satisfy both the transmit power constraint of the SU transmitter and the received power constraint at the PU receiver. This letter studies the ergodic capacity of spectrum-sharing systems in fading channels. The ergodic capacity expression along with the optimal power allocation scheme is derived considering both the average transmit and received power constraints. The capacity function in terms of the two power constraints is found to be divided into transmit power limited region, received power limited region and dual limited region. Numerical results in Rayleigh fading channels are presented to verify our analysis. key words: ergodic capacity, opportunistic spectrum access, received power constraint, spectrum-sharing

Ergodic and outage capacities of relaying channels in spectrum-sharing constrained systems

This paper investigates the capacity of multiple relay channels in different fading and shadowing environments under spectrum-sharing constraints. We consider that a secondary user (SU) is allowed to share the spectrum band with a primary user (PU) provided that the SU’s transmit power remains below an interference power threshold set by the PU. Considering a scenario where the SU’s transmitter...

Capacity and optimal resource allocation for fading broadcast channels - Part I: Ergodic capacity

In multiuser wireless systems, dynamic resource allocation between users and over time significantly improves efficiency and performance. In this two-part paper, we study three types of capacity regions for fading broadcast channels and obtain their corresponding optimal resource allocation strategies: the ergodic (Shannon) capacity region, the zero-outage capacity region, and the outage capaci...

Optimal Power Control over Fading Cognitive Radio Channels by Exploiting Primary User CSI

This paper is concerned with spectrum sharing cognitive radio networks, where a secondary user (SU) or cognitive radio link communicates simultaneously over the same frequency band with an existing primary user (PU) link. It is assumed that the SU transmitter has the perfect channel state information (CSI) on the fading channels from SU transmitter to both PU and SU receivers (as usually assume...

Capacity and Optimal Resource Allocation for Fading Broadcast Channels

We derive the ergodic (Shannon) capacity region of an M-user broadcast fading channel for code-division (CD), time-division (TD) and frequency-division (FD), assuming that both the transmitter and the receivers have perfect channel side information. It is shown that by allowing dynamic resource allocation, TD, FD and CD without successive decoding have the same ergodic capacity region and optim...

Ergodic Capacity Analysis for Underlay Cognitive Radio System

Cognitive radio technology has been proposed as a viable solution to the spectrum scarcity problem faced by world today. The technology allows opportunistic spectrum access to the licensed frequency band by unlicensed user without causing any harmful interference to the licensed primary user. In this paper, ergodic channel capacity is investigated for underlay spectrum sharing system under maxi...
